Due to business needs, some functions may be required to operate on select holidays.
 
If you work part-time, you will not receive holiday pay unless you work that day. If you are scheduled to work on a holiday, you will receive 1.5 times pay for the actual hours worked.

Vacation

Salaried employees

Rivian provides unlimited paid vacation to all full-time, salaried employees. Vacation time must be preapproved by your supervisor.

Full-time hourly employees (except Manufacturing Operations)

Hourly employees working more than 30 hours per week accrue paid time off at a rate of 3.077 hours for every two weeks worked (i.e., per paycheck) to a maximum of 80 hours per year.

You can carry over up to 40 hours of unused PTO into the following year.

Part-time hourly employees

Hourly employees working at least 20 hours and less than 30 hours per week accrue paid time off at a rate of 1.539 hours for every two weeks worked (i.e., per paycheck) to a maximum of 40 hours per year.

You can carry over up to 40 hours of unused PTO into the following year.

Other paid time off

Manufacturing Operations hourly employees receive 80 hours of Planned Time Off, 40 hours of Shutdown Planned Time Off and 40 hours of Unplanned Time Off per year. This approach helps reduce unexpected absences, which improves scheduling and efficiency for everyone in the plant.

Please always give your supervisor as much notice as you can when you need to take time off.

Planned Time Off: Manufacturing Operations hourly employees only

Manufacturing Operations hourly employees working more than 30 hours per week accrue Planned Time Off at a rate of 3.077 hours for every two weeks worked (i.e., per paycheck) to a maximum of 80 hours per year.

In addition, 40 hours of Shutdown Planned Time Off are granted each year to use specifically during the first week of the April shutdown period.

Unplanned Time Off: Manufacturing Operations hourly employees only

Manufacturing Operations hourly employees working more than 30 hours per week receive 40 hours of Unplanned Time Off on the first payroll date of each year.

New employees will receive a prorated grant of Unplanned Time Off on their 90th day of employment. The time can be used from the 90th day onward, as needed:

Paid safe and sick leave: part-time employees 

Part-time employees who work more than 20 but less than 30 hours per week receive 40 hours of paid safe and sick leave per year. On your first pay date, you will receive a prorated grant of paid sick and safe leave, which you can use immediately, as needed:

Bereavement

All employees receive five paid days off for the death of an immediate family member, or one paid day off for the death of a close nonfamily member.

An immediate family member is your spouse, domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling, sibling-in-law, stepsibling, grandparent or grandchild.

You’re responsible for requesting bereavement time from your manager or supervisor as soon as possible. You may need to show documentation.

You may also qualify for up to four additional days of unpaid bereavement time if approved by your manager or supervisor.

Jury and witness duty

All employees summoned for court duty will be released from work with pay. You must provide notice of your jury or witness duty and proof of service to your manager or supervisor.

Time off to vote 

All employees receive up to two hours of paid time off from work at the beginning or end of your shift to vote. You must request time off to vote from your manager or supervisor.
